Collaborative storytelling · AI assists, you write

One Story. Many Writers. 50 Words at a Time.

Someone writes the opening. You add 50 words. The pen passes to the next writer. AI helps with ideas and consistency — and every contributor gets credit.

How Storified works

Five steps from a blank page to a finished collaborative story.

Step 1

Start

Someone writes the opening — a title, a genre and the first few lines.

Step 2

50 words

A contributor gets one turn to add up to 50 words. That's the whole commitment.

Step 3

Pass the pen

The turn moves to another writer — a friend you invite, or anyone in the community.

Step 4

AI companion

AI suggests ideas and checks consistency. It assists — it never writes for you.

Step 5

Story evolves

Many small turns become one complete story, with every contributor credited.

The Lighthouse Letters

Why 50 words?

You don't need to write a novel to become a storyteller.

Just 50 words can change the direction of an entire story.

Lowers the barrier — a turn takes minutes, not weekends.

Keeps every contribution focused and deliberate.

Keeps the finished story tight and readable.

Constraint breeds creativity — every word has to earn its place.

Makes collaboration fast; stories move daily, not monthly.

Lets far more people take part in the same story.

Pass the pen

Finished your 50 words? Pass the pen.

Every story carries a turn. When yours is done, hand it to the next writer — someone you invite, or the wider community. The story keeps moving while you sleep.

Questions, answered

What is Storified?

Storified is a collaborative storytelling platform where many writers build one story together, 50 words at a time, with optional AI assistance.

How does collaborative storytelling work?

Anyone can start a story with a title, opening paragraph, genre and word cap. Other writers then add up to 50 words each, building the story together.

Why only 50 words per turn?

A short turn lowers the barrier to joining, keeps contributions focused, keeps the story readable, and lets many more people take part.

Can I write my own story?

Yes — you can start your own story, invite friends, or use Solo Story Mode to write the whole story yourself.

How does AI help writers?

The AI Writing Companion offers plot, consistency and character suggestions without taking over your voice — you stay the author.

What is Pass the Pen?

Pass the Pen lets you hand the next turn to a specific writer via a shareable invitation link, an email invite or a username invite.

Do contributors get credit?

Yes. Every accepted contribution is credited to its writer in the story timeline and in the full-story view.

Is Storified free?

Yes. Reading and writing on Storified are free. Solo Story Mode and a few advanced tools are part of the optional Premium tier.
